Become a Volunter
Trout Lake Nature Center was founded by volunteers and continues to rely on volunteers for most of its activities. With only 2 full time and one 2 day a week staff members, much of the work done at TLNC is done with the help of volunteers.
Volunteer activities include teaching, assisting with programs and events, trail, habitat and building maintenance, critter care, gardening, fundraising, office tasks, greeters, and specialized activities. Some of our volunteers serve on committees or our Board of Directors to further Trout Lake Nature Center’s long term goals and mission.
Community Service
The Trout Lake Nature Center is approved as a location to complete both court-ordered/intervention community service as well as hours required for Bright Futures and academic assignments.
Note that volunteering is available only during our open hours and may be limited by staff availability. All volunteer hours must be scheduled in advance. Volunteers must be at least 15 years old unless with a special program or family group.
No matter your reason for volunteering, there is an activity that will suit you at the Trout Lake Nature Center. We welcome new helpers and there are a lot of activities to choose from. Thorough hands-on training is provided. Fill out our Volunteer Form Here.
Youth Organizations
The Trout Lake Nature Center works with Scout troops, 4-H, and individuals in the pursuit of service, badges and Eagle Scout projects. Those interested should contact our Director, Eileen Tramontana, at tlnc.director@gmail.com. Staff at the Trout Lake Nature Center are merit badge counselors. If you are completing an environmental- or nature-related merit badge, don’t hesitate to contact Eileen Tramontana.
Additionally, the Trout Lake Nature Center enjoys working with packs and troops to complete badge requirements or provide special programs in exchange for community service.
