Environmental Justice for All
Environmental justice is the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race, color, national origin, or income with respect to the development, implementation and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations and policies.
Fair treatment means no group of people should bear a disproportionate share of the negative environmental consequences resulting from industrial, governmental and commercial operations or policies. In the past fair treatment has not occurred due to lack of economic clout, political will, or even a full understanding of unintended consequences of well-meaning actions to protect the environment.
This presentation will expand on the meaning of environmental justice in Lake County and consequences of our actions and inactions. Join us for this thought-provoking presentation as part of our Friday Night Naturalist Series. the program is free to attend but all donations are appreciated.
