All nonprofits depend on various funding sources to help them achieve their mission. The Trout Lake Nature Center is no different. Recently, we received funding from two very different sources for totally different purposes.
Through the efforts of Representative Nan Cobb and Senator Keith Truenow, TLNC is receiving $500,000 to continue with Phase 3 of its education complex expansion for the Florida Legislature. Previously, we received $1 million to start and complete the Phase 2 portion of this expansion. This phase is in the final stages of its completion. Thank you Representative Cobb and Senator Truenow for your support!
Our second source of funding is from the SECO Energy Foundation which awarded a $5,000 grant to support ours StoryWalk® program. This unique project blends outdoor exploration with literacy for children and families.
The StoryWalk® initiative will install a series of 16 weather-resistant kiosks along a nature trail at TLNC, each displaying laminated pages from a children’s book. As families walk the trail, they’ll follow the story page-by-page, encouraging reading, observation, and a deeper connection to the natural world.
“StoryWalk® is a perfect way to encourage both literacy and a love for nature,” said Eileen Tramontana, TLNC’s Executive Director. “We are grateful to the SECO Energy Foundation for helping us bring this engaging experience to our community.”
Thank you SECO Energy Foundation! Both of these funders are helping us get better and better. All support large and small is appreciated and very needed. You, too, can donate to help us conserve and protect the environment and educate about its importance
