2023 EcoExpo: Saving Lake County, Awareness to Action on March 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Lake-Sumter State College (Leesburg Campus).

The 2023 EcoExpo’s primary mission is to promote interest in conservation, climate change, and related subjects in Lake county. This event is free and open to the public and will include workshops with actionable information on conservation, conservation exhibits, door prizes, and more. TLNC will be hosting a Discovery Room with hands-on activitiies.

The EcoExpos is co-hosted by the following Lake County organizations: The Lake County Conservation Council, Trout Lake Nature Center, Florida Native Plant Society: Beautyberry Chapter, Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Lake County, Tri-city NAACP, All About Ballots, Aquatic Preserve Alliance of Central Florida, Citizens for the Preservation of Rural, Friends of the Wekiva River, Mount Dora Friends of the Environment, Oklawaha Valley Audubon Society, Friends of Lake Louisa.

Join us for outdoor yoga often held under the spreading branches of our Grandfather Oak. Sometimes the weather is brisk but that adds to the enjoyment of the practice of yoga outdoors. Well-behaved dogs can join the class with their owners often ending the session with a walk to the lake during cooler weather. Cost is $5/session which is collected by the instructor.

Each month TLNC invites various scientists, nature lovers, storytellers and environmentalist to speak on a wide variety of topics. Although some topics appeal more to adults, children are always welcome. TLNC does charge a $5/vehicle entry fee to all non-TLNC members.

Featured in March will be Taylor Jones, TLNC volunteer curator of our insect and butterfly collection. Learn about the specimens in this collection, how they were acquired, spread and used to further people's knowledge about the small inhabitants of our world.

The Association of Nature Center Administrators or ANCA will be holding its first face-to-face meeting since the pandemic. This group is composed of nature center staff and receive professional development and training and networking at this important meeting. TLNC staff tries to attend when programming permits.

Bring your well-mannered dog and join the TLNC pack for a quiet walk on our trails where we end up at the Education Dock. This is an opportunity for you to socialize and your dog to socialize. No reservations are required. All dogs must be kept on a 6 foot lead and owners must pick up after their dogs. Entry fee to TLNC is $5/vehicle. All TLNC members (both dogs and humans) have free entry to our facilities.
