Elementary age children are invited to practice their reading with the therapy dogs of PAWS. Bring a book the child is currently reading, or select from one of Trout Lake Nature Center’s age-appropriate nature books.
The PAWS Therapy Dogs visit nursing homes, assisted living centers and rehab facilities in Lake County as well as schools and libraries for reading programs. The dogs are well trained and excellent listeners, helping to build a young reader’s confidence and desire to read.
Registration is required to ensure we have enough dogs for all of the children.

This is the second Friday of the month and our Friday Night Naturalist Programs are held on the third Friday. It will be on July 21.,

Staff, Board members and volunteers will be coming to clean up the vegetation that has overgrown the old portion of the boardwalk while the other portion was being rebuilt. Clippers and trimmers are used to cut back the vegetation. Then, it is gathered before falling in the water and removed down the boardwalk. It is a hot and dirty job but it has to be done before the boardwalk can be reopened.

Call 352-357-7536 or email tlnc.director@gmail.com if you are interested in helping.
