TLNC supports the Amazing Race of Charity in a variety of ways such as providing a challenge for the race and in past years the race has passed through TLNC property and may again in the future.

Join expert birder Bob Wexler to discover the birds at TLNC. Bring your camera and binoculars if you wish. TLNC does charge a $5/vehicle entry fee but entry is part of a TLNC Membership.

Sunday Fundays are fun for the family or any age. This event will feature live snakes, turtles and other reptiles, along with information about reptiles from around the world. Experts from the Orianne Center for Indigo Conservation, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and the Lake County Water Authority will be exhibiting at the event and available to answer questions. You can also observe alligators from our boardwalk, visit exhibits and talk to experts at your own pace.

A Jr. Master Naturalist Club called the Trout Lake Woodlanders for 8 to 18 year olds will meet on the third Wednesday after school at the Trout Lake Nature Center. Co-sponsored by Lake County 4-H and TLNC, this club will involve members in hands-on learning, field trips, volunteer activities, and more. Florida has 175 award-winning state parks which are acknowledged as among the best in the world. This presentation will explore the tremendous diversity of Florida’s state parks, the many activities they offer and the huge economic benefit they bring to the state.

Don Philpott is an award-winning writer and Florida state park volunteer who has notched up more than 32,000 volunteer hours over the last 30 years. He is a Florida Master Naturalist instructor, Florida Master Gardener and a Certified Interpretive Guide.

Entry to TLNC is $5/vehicle, free for TLNC members.

This program is designed for 2 to 5 year olds to have a positive experience in nature when accompanied by an adult. You MUST register to be sure enough supplies are available for all children participating. Dress your child in play clothes and plan for him/her to get dirty. We may be digging in the soil, finding bugs, learning about flowers or hiking in the woods.

Join us for a walk to our dockside to watch the sun set, bird come back to their roost followed by music and snacks at a campfire. You should dress for Florida weather outside, bring a lawn chair (they are more comfortable than our benches), any snacks you desire and a musical instrument so you can join the musicians. Coffee, tea and hot chocolate along with marshmallows for roasting will be provided. Cost is $5/vehicle for non-TLNC members. Gate will be opened around 5:30 PM for entry to the event.
