Join us on May 11th at 1:30 PM for an afternoon of learning about our moon. Speaker Mike Ryan will present a program about the eight major moon phases, giving you chance to see what the moon looks like at various times of the month from many points of view. Attendees will also receive a moon phases worksheet to fill out and take home to continue their learning while watching the night sky.
Mike Ryan is a retired Planetarium Director for Lake County Schools. After spending 42 years teaching in Florida, he has developed more than 30 astronomy-related activities for teachers to use worldwide.
Cost is $5/vehicle, TLNC members are free.
The Orianne Center for Indigo Conservation (OCIC) is the only captive breeding facility with the sole purpose of breeding, raising, and releasing Eastern Indigo snakes into restored and managed habitat. Nick Clark, supervisor and curator at the OCIC will share about the current restoration efforts and introduce program attendees to one of the center's live ambassador snakes.
Cost is $5/vehicle, free for TLNC members.
Folk Music Third Saturdays Concert. $7 at the door. The potluck will begin at 7 PM with music at 7:45. Bring a covered dish for the potluck.

This program is designed for 2 to 5 year olds to have a positive experience in nature when accompanied by an adult. You MUST register to be sure enough supplies are available for all children participating. Dress your child in play clothes and plan for him/her to get dirty. We may be digging in the soil, finding bugs, learning about flowers or hiking in the woods.
Visit the Eustis Memorial Library and learn about birds in our area from TLNC's bird expert, Bob Wexler.
Bob will share some of the knowledge he has gained in his 75+ years of birding experience. He will discuss some of the most common species in the area, focusing on the birds found at the Trout Lake Nature Center, including their defining characteristics and sounds. Bob has a wealth of birding knowledge and is an excellent resource for birders with all degrees of experience.
Do you want to become a Project WET facilitator? Then, this training will start you on the road to becoming one of Florida's WET facilitators allowing you to help educators learn how to teach about our water.
